Who Is Lisa Blunt Rochester

Lisa Blunt Rochester is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Delaware’s at-large congressional district. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Rochester was born in Philadelphia and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. She earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a master’s degree in urban affairs and public policy from the University of Delaware.

Before entering politics, Rochester worked for Delaware Governor Tom Carper and later served as the state’s Secretary of Labor. In 2016, she ran for Congress and became the first woman and the first African-American to represent Delaware in Congress. Rochester is also a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and has focused on addressing important social justice issues.
